Permits

Alarm permits are an important part of many alarm ordinances and often are determined by such things as type of location (eg. commercial vs. residential), whether there were any false alarm violations in the previous period, whether the fee gets an early payment discount, etc. etc. The system allows unlimited permit types and it allows accounts to have multiple permit types assignable to it. So, for instance, an account may have a commercial permit and a separate burglary alarm permit at the same time.

Types

Unlimited permit types can be defined. Some of the configurations that can be defined for each permit type include:

  • Whether the permit applies to alarm companies or alarm holders.
  • Types of accounts (eg commercial vs residential alarm holders or monitoring station vs alarm installer) the permit applies to.
  • Duration of permits (number of years between renewals or permanent).
  • Early payment pricing incentives.
  • Date driven pricing.
  • Establishing follow up processing and notifications for non-compliance.

New permits

Permit data can be captured in several ways:

  • Alarm holder submitting a permit application
  • Alarm company providing a permit application on behalf of their customer
  • Alarm company providing a list of all alarm holders they serve within the agency's jurisdiction
  • Alarm holder identified from an alarm incident.

Notification mechanisms

The mechanism for triggering an application and payment of a permit can be done by:

  • Billing for them in advance on an invoice.
  • Sending a notice requesting permit registration and not creating an invoice for the sale until after the application is returned with the appropriate payment.
  • Alarm holder making an online submission.

Renewals

Permit renewal notifications can be mailed or sent electronically to a verified email address.
